imr 7828 ssc load data
Product Overview
Production of IMR powders dates back over 200 years when the company was originally founded by E.I DuPont. Available for use in many reloading applications, the IMR series of powder is trusted by reloaders all across the globe.
IMR 7828 SSC magnum rifle powder has exactly the same burn rate as standard IMR 7828 and uses the same data. However, due to the super short kernels, metering is virtually as good as a spherical powder. This allows up to 4% more powder space in the case and in many loads yields more velocity than standard 7828. Such loads are marked with an asterisk in the data to show where standard 7828 will not fit. imr 7828 ssc load data
Important Information:
- Do not exceed the loads displayed in the reloaders guide.
- Never mix any two powders regardless of type, brand, or source.
- Never substitute any smokeless powder for Black Powder or any Black Powder substitute.

*The standard 7828 was discontinued by IMR/Hodgdon in 2018. They are now only offering 7828 SSC.

From Hodgdon’s ballistic lab:
“As far as load data and performance goes IMR7828SSC has identical ballistics – the load data/charge weights are identical. It is tested and accepted using the same reference lot that was used for IMR7828. IMR7828SSC offers improved metering and allows you to get better case fill in situations where the case is full or the load is compressed…this is the only difference in the 2 propellants. In the ballistics lab we actually see lower SDs that can be attributed to the finer cut grains.”
